The sad odds are the OP(original poster) is going to lose that document. While your advice about Font weeding and permissions is great, the issue is his Mac is Frozen Or rather Word is frozen. Since the OP's Mac is a 2012 Model it should have at least Lion (OSX.7.x), or Mountain Lion (OSX.8.x).
